The College of Teacher Education of Ningbo University is a disciplinary college dedicated to the cultivation of teacher talents and research in educational and psychological sciences. Its predecessor can be traced back to the establishment of Ningbo Normal University in 1958. In 2008, the School of Teacher Education of Ningbo University was established on the basis of the former School of Education of Ningbo University. In the new era, the college adheres to the motto of "upholding morality and practicing, being knowledgeable and good at education", and adheres to the educational philosophy of "improving quality, pursuing excellence, cultivating teacher characteristics, and coordinating development", comprehensively promoting the construction of educational discipline brands and the cultivation of teacher training professionals.

The college currently has 116 full-time teachers, including 62 with doctor degrees, and more than 20 talents at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including experts with special allowances from the State Council, members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Qianjiang Scholars, Chief Expert of Ma Engineering, Zhejiang Province Famous teachers, top-notch young talents of Zhejiang Ten Thousand Talents Program, Eastern Zhejiang Scholars, Zhijiang Youth, Provincial 151 Talent Training Objects, Young and Middle-aged Subject Leaders of Provincial Universities, Excellent Teachers of Provincial Universities.

The college has five departments and nine institutions. The five departments are: Primary Education Department, Preschool Education Department, Psychology Department, English Education Department, and Teacher Education Department. The primary education major is an advantage and characteristic major of ordinary universities in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five Year Plan period. In 2019, it was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major. The preschool education major is a first-class undergraduate major in Zhejiang Province and an advantageous major in universities in Ningbo. It was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2021. Applied Psychology is a first-class undergraduate major in Zhejiang Province and a characteristic major of universities in Ningbo. It was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2021. The nine institutions are: Institute of Curriculum and Teaching, Institute of Basic Education Theory, Institute of Higher Education, Institute of Preschool Education, Institute of Educational Leadership and Management, Institute of Educational Informatization, Institute of Psychology, Institute of Applied Psychology, and Institute of Mental Health. The college has two first level master's programs in education and psychology, as well as two professional master's programs in education and applied psychology. Education is a first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five Year Plan period, and psychology is a key discipline in Ningbo.

The college attaches great importance to the quality of undergraduate and postgraduate training, especially the cultivation of student abilities, and creates a good environment for student growth. Students have repeatedly achieved good results in national and provincial discipline competitions, and the employment rate and examination rate have repeatedly reached new highs.

The college will continue to focus on making progress, respond to the requirements of the new era for the development of education disciplines and teacher training, and strive to build a first-class teaching and research college with characteristics and influence in China.
